The article contrasts between the United State's education system and Finland's education system in order to show what the schools in the United States are lacking. The article explains, in detail, how Finnish schools are able incorporate innovative and unique teaching methods into their education system and utilizes these methods effectively. This article provides insight in how Finnish teachers are able to teach and provide support towards their students that help the students to understand the material they're learning.

The article mainly describes the thoughts of Pasi Sahlberg, one of the leading Finnish authorities on education reform, during a conference in the U.S. in regards to the Finnish education system. Sahlberg explained that the focus of the Finnish Education system was on its teachers and addressed some of the criticisms towards the success of the Finnish reform. The article pointed out a crucial difference in the mentality between the two education systems as the Finnish system emphasizes equality among its students, the U.S. system encourages competition.
