Theme: Society can influence a character to show who they truly are
Plot Synopsis: Othello is promoted to a high military job and it makes
Iago jealous. Iago is pretends to be Othello’s friend throughout the play but
he plans on bringing Othello’s downfall by showing to everyone his real traits
and true self. In the end he does accomplish this and much more.
Characters:
Othello: He a highly ranked military official of Venice
Iago: He is also a military officer who is jealous of Othello for
getting a job position that he wanted
Symbols, Allusions, Distinguishing characteristics:
The handkerchief represents the relationship between Desdemona and
Othello.
